Don't Mess With Dash!

Although it looks to me like Dash can take care of himself

In addition to a UMass police officer and Amherst firefighter being attacked by an overly aggressive drunk young woman over the Halloween weekend our resident K9, Dash, was also messed with by a college aged youth.

That too is pretty stupid.

At the follow up hearing for Mr. Forgione, the charge of messing with Dash was dropped but he was put on four months probation for the other two charges.

Umass police officer and AFD firefighter attacked? Come on Larry, get your facts right. Fact check with AFD and Umass PD before you post. They were not "attacked." Usually your good about this stuff.

The Statement of Facts I published speaks for itself.

Usually Anons are not good with this stuff.

dr. This is bullbleep. If a police dog is so poorly trained and undisciplined that the dog will injure himself INSIDE THE CRUISER then that police dog is inherently dangerous.

The kid may be an A-hole but he didn't touch the dog....

Any dog, no matter how trained he is would respond the same way if someone got in his face and was barking at him. It's seen as a threat to the dog and their instincts kick in. NO MATTER HOW TRAINED THEY ARE. As a human, picture somebody standing over you waving their hands and yelling in a language foreign to you and making gestures moving towards you. All the while you were standing in a metal box. You would freak out and try to defend yourself which is what the dog was trying to do. Except he was in a vehicle which made him understandably frustrated. Unless you understand the psychology of a dog don't assume that he is poorly trained. Dash is probably smarter than the majority of humans. You don't have to touch a dog to piss him off. Dogs read body language which has a lot more meaning behind it than words.

Everyone who knows Brian knows that he was not the one who barked at the dog. It was a scumbag named Brendan Collier who was visiting for the weekend. The police misidentified Brian and arrested him. It is actually a really unfair situation

Well, 9:04PM, I think you have just convinced me that Police Dogs should be banned. If they are that unstable and aggressive, they are a threat to public safety. What if a child has some this and the dog able to escape the cruiser?

Is a badly mauled 7-year-old worth it?

Once again Dr Ed this shows what little you know about dogs AND police dogs. If you want to ban police dogs for them potentially being aggressive when provoked after the guy doing the provoking was warned. Then you may as well ban kids or rather the young adults at these parties because they're more of a threat to public safety and that 7 year old than 10 suited up police dogs.
