Wild Women Weekend

51 Phillips Street

Three 21-year-old women, all UMass students, became the first "Party House" arrests of the Fall  semester.  And seven of nine (one of my favorite Star Trek characters) UMass ETOH drunk runs over the weekend were women, as were both Amherst College drunk runs.

Ain't equality great?

In Eastern Hampshire District Court on Monday none of the three women jumped at the Commonwealth's usual plea deal offer (which has about a 98% acceptance rate):  Criminal case is "diverted" to civil with payment of $300 town bylaw noise fine, and if they stay out of trouble for four months the case is dismissed.

All the young women wished to consult with a private attorney so their cases were continued until next month.

And all the ETOH women recovered and will be paying (or their parents will) around $1,000 each for their ride to Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

Plea deal is a qualified, rational bargain. Given that the outcome at criminal trial is going to be the same or worse, plus a prolonged affair, plus will cost the defendant(s) expensive attorney fees, it hardly makes any sense to make the choise these three young women did.

It's almost as though women can't think rationally, or feel they need a man to tell them what to do and represent/defend them.

Don't know what is more upsetting--this article, or your new, HORRIBLY intrusive ads that take over my entire computer screen. Larry, I know you're the budding capitalist, but you'll lose me if one more of those stupid ads comes back.

Not sure what you are talking about. My ads have not changed much in three years.

That was not a lecture, this is a lecture....

Some attorneys are women. When I want a Real Estate Attorney, I look to a woman. When I want a trail lawyer, I look to a man. Then I look to their individual qualities, but their sex will help me make this decision easier and narrow the playing field. Most people do the same thing when they are looking for a mate because we ALL know that men and woman are very different and possess many different qualities on average from interests to physical strength to coordination associated with testosterone. Boys and Girls are treated very differently as children, this also strongly influences the differences that are more than obvious to those that observe. Men also cannot typically bear children. Trying to equate men and women makes no sense. Can the government grant them equal rights under the law....well the silly ones can try.

The women arrested are not equal to men, I am sure they were treated with more respect than men once arrested, even if they were just manhandled less out of fear of sexual charges. Men and women are not equal, far from it. They would also be sent to a less violent prison.

But let's be real, how they dress and their social class will likely have more of an influence on how the police will treat them. Police are the first line of judges in our system and we generally like it that way unless our family is on the other end of the judgement.

Also, all you have to do is take a group of men that strongly support equal rights and get them alone with other men, sorry ladies, 99% of the time, the vial will come off and your well rounded man will be more than glad to say it like it is. We are pretty good at faking you guys out on this one. This includes those thin, 30 and 40 something hipster types with glasses and button downs all over the community.

If you have to enforce equal rights, you are really not equal, you are weak, by definition. Society does not think that men and women are equal, some fringe group of lawmakers fake it and some citizens have fooled themselves, but there are no laws that can really be written to fix this, most backfire. Groups that want respect via their group need to earn it, you cannot force respect. You can force resentments, and certainly have. Even groups that have typically had respect can loose it by having a few or many bad seeds, like the police, who's reputation decline is constant in national news now.

Go back to pretending people are equal now....

No, it's not about women needing a man. It's simply about entitlement. Women are brought up to be victims, to feel they are always wronged, to feel "special". Why not simply go the way of 98% of the cases? Because most all of those cases are male and men are brought up to deal with the consequences. Women aren't. They all ran home to daddy who is going to "protect" them from the bad and injustice that was brought on. Why? Because everyone knows my daughter is special and a good little girl and charges like this are akin to rape. She doesn't deserve this 'unjust treatment'. She is just trying to go to school. Fear not. They'll use any excuse like the police office sexually molested me, or the police officer caused me a great deal of physical pain or it wasn't us, it was a bunch of guys who ran when the police showed up, or some other cockamamie excuse that women use every day to play victim, act like victims, and support each other as victims. We live in a world where sadly women are not seen for the violent, abusive people they are, no different than their male counterparts who often pay the price for the free ticket women get in life. No wonder why people are shocked and in disbelief to know that a recent Harvard study shows 70 percent of domestic violence is committed by women against men. Shocked because culture and women's rights group preach the false myth that men are evil and women angels. Or as the fathers of these losers will say, it may be women but not my daughter. She's special. Let's hope these women get the punishment they deserve, a punishment no less than a man would get in the same circumstance.

Larry, it's true - something on your website occasionally hijacks the browser to a full-screen video ad. This is on PC / Chrome browser not a mobile device. I'll try to ID the target next time it happens.

Glad your not making sweeping generalizations without any supporting facts.

Just look at society, how young girls are taught they are princesses and will marry a prince. Then look at the divorce rate, false claims of domestic violence and rape, then go to family court and watch these women in action. Animals who want what they think they are entitled too.

Women are animals? Go back to the stone age, creep. Likely a Trump supporter.

People, there are all kinds in the world. Some are men and some are women, some bad, some good. Get over it folks!

Guess Larry's original point was that 77% of the drunks and troublemakers last weekend were young women. Is this evidence of police targeting women?

Larry Kelley said...

No, it is not.
