3 Strikes

Claude Bolling (poster at Town Hall)

Besides tying up ambulances for frequent transports to the hospital, scaring away customers in the downtown and leaving unsightly debris in their favorite haunts another problem with our homeless population is some of them can be downright dangerous.

Over the weekend APD arrested Claude Bolling for Assault & Battery on a family member.

Because of the two year old domestic abuse law designed to protect victims the justice system will not release any paperwork concerning that crime.

But Mr. Bolling had two other charges.

In Eastern Hampshire District Court today in front of Judge William O'Grady he had his bail revoked for the previous offense of "failing to register as a sex offender" (which has to be done annually) and he had a Superior Court Warrant outstanding for a probation violation.

He is currently being held for up to 90 days in the House of Correction on the bail revocation, so he will not see the "streets of Amherst" for a while.

Is a man convicted of rape back on the street to be convicted of assault in 2006? ..or am I misreading this?

No,rapists only do about 3-5 years, you get what you vote for. I'm glad all the bums are setting up camp in Amherst. It demonstrates to chronic complainers, how stupid they sound, squawking about noisy college students on weekends. Now the bums are standing at every corner, getting their drug money, most having lengthly criminal records

Outstanding warrant for probation violation?

Either he ought not have been on probation or someone really ought to have followed up on that.

Kind of a chicken and egg thing wouldn't you say?

Tell them to stop acting criminally and I will be happy to.

Well what having a legal system that takes probation violations seriously?

Larry you should have a homeless criminal act of the week article just to keep up with what's going on downtown. I'm sure they make the police report at least once per week and there must be some regular perps' on it. Maybe you could rate them on frequency alone.

Yeah that's why I went out of my way to name all five perps arrested last week for "open container" at Jones Library. Normally I don't cover that when it's students.

Now at least their names will be available on that charge for any follow ups.
