Good story on the front page of the NY Times today on the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, shutting down on 12/31.

Was the town hall respectable enough to lower the flag to half-staff, or is that too militaristic? I lost relatives in that war and many of them had friends who died in the attack, and it would anger me beyond belief to hear Amherst neglected such a solemn day.

Yes, all town flags and that majestic Amherst College flag on top of Chapel Hill were all at half staff, where they belonged.
