When will they ever learn?

So you have to figure that maybe--just maybe--the denizens of this humble abode at 88 Pelham Road on the border of Amherst/Pelham will get the message: don't invite over 300 Facebook friends (on a Sunday night no less), allow them to consume copious amounts of alcohol and then get belligerent with responding officers of the law--especially in the town of Amherst.

And why might they now get the message? Yeah, maybe because cars parked illegally around the humble abode were ticketed and a few towed; or that one "guest" was arrested for "disorderly conduct".

But mainly because the three responsible "tenants" were each issued two $300 tickets--one for "noise violation" and the other for being a "nuisance house". $600 each, times three. Ouch!

Bet that is more than next month's rent. Although in Amherst, maybe not--especially since this particular choice piece of real estate, valued at $292,700, sold last year to Onesta Properties LLC c/o Pipeline Properties Inc for $320,000.

And the mortgage payment on a 300-K fixed rate loan these days is about $1,800 month. Then add on the whopping Amherst property tax rate.

Pipeline Properties Inc does show on their extensive list of Amherst rental property a location nearby (6 bedrooms, but only 1.5 baths) at 109 Pelham road for a measly $3,000 per month.

Interestingly enough, Pipeline does post on their website under General Rules the following warning: "You live in a community and have neighbors, please be respectful of them, there is a noise ordinance in the each town and you can be fined for violating this. You are responsible and liable for the actions of your guests."

Let's hope the $1,800 in fines will drive home the point.

I bet those kids have jobs and contribute to the local workforce and economy, Larry. Do you?

$1,800 for having house party? Property taxes on that house were probably about 3 X that. Ridiculous.

Yet bars like the Monkey Bar and The Pub can get away with letting in teenagers and they aren't responsible for any of the mess/noise or nuisance uptown after hours.

I'll take that bet.

Why don't you go knock on their door and interview ALL the folks living there (not just the names on the lease) and ascertain where they work, and I'll call those businesses to double check.

Your math is pretty good: last year the "Absentee owners" paid about $5,500 in taxes (still not bad when you consider what they are probably charging in rent)

The ABC does a pretty good job keeping the uptown bars under control when it comes to serving underage drinkers.

And The Pub or Monkey Bar could not fit 300 patrons at one time.

What is with people defending these students who literally turn the town on its ear every weekend, and then do a titanic blow out all spring long??? I don't get it. NO ONE has the right to disrupt neighbors, traffic, or the town like this? What are these people smoking????

Absolute tool.............

is Pipeline a local company? do you know who runs it?

- Pipeline Prop. is local I believe.

- Larry, you would be surprised as to how many underage drinkers are in the Pub and Moneky Bar each night.

- Both places have had over 300 people, easily before.

UMASS should open up the football stadium, provide all the beer and booze these kids desire, then lock them in, padlock the gates...if the beer and booze runs out, air drop more in as needed. Let them get as drunk as they want, beat each other to death, die of alcohol poisoning, etc... I bet it would be a lot quieter around here on the weekends!

pipeline owns a pack them in there dump on our street. nobody can figure out how they can rent out a basement with NO exit, just those little windows.

Amherst: one big open sewer.

Yes we can!

And Larry, when you finally manage to kill the golden goose, and when the students stop coming out here, and UMass starts laying off a thousand people a month and the property values fall through the floor while all of this rental housing becomes Section 8 rentals to single mothers with children and your school budget goes through the roof -- well, then, I will be ROTFLMAO....

And when you have the major riot and the mice (students) turn and fight back and you have officers injured or killed, officer-involved shootings and US Senators from half a dozen states coming in on behalf of dead constitutients, then you will truly reap the products of your bigotry.

It will eventually happen -- it could well happen with the PISCH concert this weekend....

The PHISH concert will be the straw that breaks the backs of Amherst PD, UMASS PD, Amherst EMT & Fire personnel, not to mention testing the nerves of all of the high property tax payers!
Lock your doors and windows this weekend, drink lots of coffee and git your pitchforks out!
OR, charge a small fee for druggies to camp out on your lawns....
suckers!!!! Yeah, they contribute SO much to this town.

ed, take your fricken meds

If they were smart, they'd lock them all in the stadium this weekend and save us all a lot of headaches.
Ed, how much are you going to charge per/tent in your yard?, and are you going to provide them with aspirin and continental breakfast too? LOL
take your meds!
