Amherst's Heartland
About 100 good folks converged on the VFW last night for a night of fun, food, dancing and prises with all proceeds going towards the July 4'th Parade. Former Umass Police chief Gerry O'Neil won the large screen flat panel TV, and I won a $25 gift certificate to 'Crazy Noodles' in town center (We're going to walk uptown tonight and use it).
No, not a single anti-war protester showed up.

Did you really expect an anti-war protester to come to an event in the VFW? Um, I don't think so. Just joshing. Your point is well taken. But seriously, even if they helped with the fund raising, I hope you would't turn the parade into a protest march.
Let me know the next time it's a karaoke (instead of dancing) fundraiser for the parade -- my 9 yo had a blast doing Iron Man at the last one (March 1st)
Hey, my six year old had a blast dancing with Kevin's young daughter.
But yeah, we're having ONE more Parade fundraiser at the VFW (o'reilly: you're invited and I'll spring for the ticket) and I'm pretty sure it will be, ugh, karaoke.
You wouldn't say "ugh" if you'd heard Kevin's Bon Jovi:-)
