And the winners are...

Yes, the Amherst Taxpayers for Responsible Change met last night (appropriately enough at the Rod and Gun Club) and overwhelmingly endorsed two Select board candidates. Both of whom I voted to support.

But I can't tell you who they are until the Ultra Crusty Bulletin goes to press. Gotta throw them a bone once in a while (although their editor is probably a vegan).

The Amherst July 4'th Parade Committee Executive Circle will be meeting with Mr. Laurence Shaffer Amherst Town Manager at 4:00 PM this afternoon in his office. (notice I didn't call him "Boss Hogg") No I will not blog live from there--although I assume it will be a short meeting.

And I make a return visit to Bill Dwight's WHMP radio show tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM to talk about whatever pisses me off at that moment.

Can you give us an update on the Town Manager/Parade Committee meeting later? Do you expect the people who have been bending Shaffer's ear on changing the purpose of the parade to be there?

Remember, it's a family parade not a protest so people should be invited to come and bring their family, march in it if they wish, and leave their politcal cause at home.

Maybe the town mananager should organize a "poltical cause" parade for August 4th to accomodate people who want to march and express their free speech rights at the same event.

Would you be so kind as to inquire about the status of the Kendrick Park Use Policy Committee?

Will do.

God knows how long it would take the Crusty Gazette to get around to it.

China Censors Web Coverage of Tibet Protests
by Laura Sydell, All Things Considered, March 18, 2008

Part of a Chinese crackdown on coverage of protests in Tibet involves blocking access to the Web. Analysts say China has the most sophisticated Internet censoring system of any nation.

Yeah but after 26 years of running a small business, I specialize in bending the rules.

I hate suspense Larry. When will you let us know the 2 picks?
I wish I could be a fly on the wall for your meeting today w/ Mr. Shaffer. I just watched the 3/17 select board meeting with the Firefighters UNION presentation. I take it Mr. Shaffer doesn't like that word...

Well, I guess I could post a photo every hour of a lawn sign and say "not them" until there are only two left.

But wait, that wouldn't work because Dave Keenan doesn't believe in lawn signs (even though he has two on his lawn for Ms. Greeney)

The Town Manager also confirmed he has not yet chosen the Kendrick Park committee but that 20 to 25 people had applied and he was going to let them all in and form a few sub-committees. This could happen in the next few weeks.

Ooooh, I feel so special knowing I'm part of the Executive committee. ;-)

We'll see what happens next.
