DUI Dishonor Roll

Liberty Lynn, age 34

Interestingly my friends in the bricks and mortar media jumped on this scary DUI case because Liberty Lynn had a child in the car with her (as well as an Amherst homeless person, "known to the police").

But the thing about drunk drivers is they are a threat to kids everywhere because even if they are alone in their car they can all too easily crash into another vehicle filled with kids.

Liberty Lynn is the sister of Patrick Lynn who was arrested by Amherst police six weeks ago in Amherst town center for DUI -- 4th offense!

Drunk driving is really really bad.

You know what else is really really bad? Texting/talking on the phone while driving.

Lady Liberty was just imbibing a little ol' Freedom Juice.

The untold saga of Amherst involves the women living in public housing and the "homeless" men who are "known to the police."

I worry about the children.

Besides not missing a drink, clearly this woman hasn't missed a meal.

Why is it that all these people from New Hampshire keep driving drunk in Amherst?

The Lynn family must be so proud. Thanks to whomever reported her. How sad for her son.

The place is such an embarrassment they have to get drunk just to drive through Amherst...

Mixing Percocet and Alcohol -- not a very good idea. It's not Heroin but it's the same family -- Oxycodone, a semi-synthetic opiate, a narcotic.

One in her purse, how many already inside her? Not only would Percocet greatly enhance the effects of the alcohol, one of the other side effects is this medical condition known as "death."

Seriously Larry, if she had Percocets inside her, you can probably double her BAC in terms of how impaired she was.

That little kid does not need this. I do hope the officer filed a 51A as well -- the kid doesn't need this, no kid does.

Wanna bet she's got an EBT card in *both* MA & NH?

She came to the right place, Poor unfortunate single mother. Let's put her in section 8 housing with free everything. Amherst tax payers can afford one more poor person who is down on her luck. Besides, it wasn't her fault she was driving drunk anyway. Let's spend all our money helping the poor and troubled so we can feel good about ourselves.
Wake up!!!!!!!

May 22, 2014 at 8:58 AM -- I agree more than you can possibly imagine, but facts matter and I need to correct one:

Section 8 vouchers are FEDERAL money -- yes, Amherst taxpayers are paying for them, the same point I made about "state money" and Larry's comment about the school study being "70% state money", but Section 8 Housing is not part of the municipal budget. And the town *is* getting property tax on the units as well -- it doesn't on those listed below.

Ann Whalen and Chestnut Court are State money, Chapter 667. Initially "housing for the frail elderly" it became housing for "elderly and disabled" and that includes both psych disabilities (i.e. mental illnesses) and (preportedly past) drug abuse issues, although there are also a lot of "dual diagnoses."

The latter includes able-bodied people in their 20's & 30's who go to the methadone clinic each morning, get their 'fix' and then come back - hanging out all day and doing *nothing*...

And the Voodoo Scientists of the Valley are so willing to pin psych labels onto people that there is a whole culture of able-bodied people who do nothing but hang out all day, at public expense. A lot of these people could do something productive, something that they would actually enjoy doing as they are incredibly bored, and I really don't think the Voodoo Scientists are really helping them, but I digress.

Watson's Farm and the duplexes spread around town -- Olympia Drive, due North of Lederlie on those side/back streets, up by the water source -- are Federal money, Section 705 of *something*.

Oh, and Larry, most of those unit have children in the schools, and the AHA isn't paying taxes any more than UMass is...
