Mark be nimble, Mark be quick...

Hey Mark,
I am in receipt of your apologetic email to a couple of folks who complained about the insensitive, asinine promo for 'The Vagina Monologues' that was scheduled to be announced this morning.

When you say "I will address this issue today to ensure any future announcements are written in an appropriate fashion" one could get the impression that the original announcement was read school wide this morning but that it would not happen again (at least in so egregiously stupid a manner).

So my question is: what exactly was read to the kids in our High School this morning concerning 'The Vagina Monologues'???

What was read today was the same thing that was read yesterday. But it will be different tomorrow.

Hey Mark,
What the Hell are you, an aircraft carrier floating in a sea of molasses?

UPDATE: 3:00 pm So just for the record here is the announcement they will make tomorrow:

The Vagina Monologues is coming to the high school stage, Friday, February 15th! Mark your calendars, and get ready to become part of the worldwide phenomenon.

Of course, I'm still shocked that Jackson is told by his Boss the previous afternoon about the inappropriate nature of the announcement that apparently was made anyway twice and Jackson even sends an apologetic email to two complainants at 6:18 am but somehow the original tacky announcement was still made this morning. For the record, ARHS starts at 7:45 am. And are they going to hype (albeit lower key) this monstrosity every day between now and February 15'th???

First the good news. Mark was honest with you about moving slowly to correct the issue you brought to his attention, and he will correct the issue you brought to his attention tomorrow. Now the bad news, vaginga, vagina, vagina, etc until Feb 15.

Snark alert
Spoiler alert, not PC alert!

Look, it'd be one thing if the person had turrets SHIT... syndrome GODDAMN... but quite another VAGINA, if they don't.

You know I could have said 'rhymes with bunt' there but chose to keep my diction within the bounds of Republic of Amherst blogspot.

Now what's this about the Budget Committee going off the reservation and coming up with a plan to stuff the ballot box on the next Prop 2 and 1/2 override vote?

o'reilly, between here and AboutAmherst you keep me highly amused! Keep it up.

They are going to call a Special Town Meeting with an advisory article about the upcoming FY09 budget. The end result to be, of course, that the evil state doesn't give us enough aid so we need a Proposition 2.5 Override (Mainly to Save Our Schools, Oh My!).

Town Meeting has approved all-but-one Override proposal brought before it, or better than 90%. At the Ballot Box, however, the PEOPLE have turned down HALF of them, most recently this past May 1'st (Which Mary is still catching flack over).

The most interesting exchange occurred mid-meeting when Library Trustee Molly Turner started to bring up the voter anger over the Regional Schools having an extra MILLION left in their operation budget last year (which they of course spent or stashed in their slush fund) and Regional School Chair Elaine Brighty instantly and rather rudely cut her off and suggested they not talk about that extra million. Hmmn…

OH! That money has been brought up every time I've heard talk of another override. Folks feel like we were either fooled or whoever has the job of keeping track of such things is paid to much. Good luck keeping that topic closed!

Yeah, I think that is why Ms. Brighty is soooooo touchy about it. She never looks particularly bright and cheery but when she came into the meeting late (as did Hochman and Andy Churchill) because they were at some other meeting she looked like an underfed pitbull that somebody had just poked.

But she knows that Town Meeting is easily controlled/manipulated and any information that is remotely critical of the schools is quickly squelched.

Thankfully the PEOPLE get to vote on whatever Town Meeting or the Select Board comes up with. And yeah, they like to ask questions.
