Amherst B&E continues...

In addition to petty theft from intruders gaining access via unlocked doors or windows over the weekend, Left Click Computer, a downtown business, was hit by slightly more professional perps who cut all the outside phone lines and disabled another interior alarm system located in an upper corner closet.

Thieves made off with a couple Macbook computers and a small amount of cash leaving behind a single plastic glove on the ground near the northeast corner of the building where "entry appears to have been gained". O.J. Simpson, currently incarcerated, is not considered a suspect.

Good grief Ed. No one is blaming the students on ANY of the break-ins. Would you get over it? I am finding your attitude toward residents of this town to be offensive.
I have lived in this town my entire life. I know that my life was better because of the students. I have worked with and for the students, found most of them to be funny, full of bright ideas, and nice people.
The people who complain on this blog are complaining about a small percentage of the students who do a disservice to those to follow the rules, and are nice people. There are jerks everywhere; young, old, white, black, pink, yellow, etc. Maybe 5% of the students who attend UMass misbehave at some point, and out of that 5%, maybe 10% are repeat offenders who just don't get that there are rules to follow. They don't understand that the world doesn't revolve around them, but that you have to be considerate of those around you too.
Stop being such a martyr for the cause because it has gotten really old, very quickly.

I thought Ed meant that you can't blame UMass students because they aren't smart enough to cut wires ...

Much like those who make racist comments are complaining about only a small percentage of, say African Americans.

Remember Willie Horton? I happened across an old Reader's Digest that had been published in 1987 (before the 1988 election) and it mentioned both Horton and a Polish-American who was almost as equally reprehensible. And Horton was convicted of what he was accused of -- I think it was Maryland that said that we won't release him to Massachusetts because some damn leftist judge up there might let him loose again....

If you talk about blacks, if you use "code words" if not slurs, you ra are a racist and shunned from polite society. If you talk about UMass students -- an equal percentage of which should probably be lined up against the wall and shot (after due process, PLEASE -- and in both cases) then it is ok to say what folk say/

And the reason for this is????
