So in addition to the town hanging red-white-and-blue bunting along the waistline of venerable Town Hall, the state put up these large electronic message signs on the main arteries leading into Amherst Center.
And my wife tells me that we also heard from Town Manger Larry Shaffer this afternoon via the “emergency” call system promoting the Parade.

I agree with the emergency alert phone calls. I DO NOT agree with abusing the use of them to notify people of a parade. I didnt listen to the whole thing, in fact i hung up as soon as i heard what it was about. Lets use it for real emergencies, not to solicit a town event. If it happens too often people will just hang up when they hear his voice. or maybe it should say "emergency messege" at the beginning.. i dunno.. just a thought.
Oh. i wonder if Larry Schaffer got a call him self... and where did he recieve that call? Amherst of Easthampton?!!!
