More than a few tailgaters did not make it to the game
Weather was a plus
Since yesterday's tailgate for the 1st UMass football home game went so well. maybe the powers that be should consider replicating the party this coming March to mitigate the Blarney Blowout.
Which of course they pretty much do anyway with an expensive concert at the Mullins Center. So maybe allow tailgating there, or hold the concert at the McGuirk Stadium.
Future scene from the Walking Dead
Seems the camaraderie of cars, youthful exuberance, the outdoors, and of course alcohol can be mixed in such a way so as not to lead to a wildfire of mayhem.
Enjoy life - pass it on - allow others life-limb-and Liberty -that's the spirit !!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that what the spring concerts do already?
ReplyDeleteFun day at McGuirk Stadium!! What a beautiful setting. Nice photos from above.
ReplyDeleteTailgating in Lot 22 ?!? It always used to be in Lot 11 -- the one nearest to the stadium. Was this even officially sanctioned tailgating?

ReplyDeleteThyere no longer is a Spring Concert -- Enku Geylae forced the SGA to replace it with the Early March one intended to prevent Barney Blowout.
....But the "Concerts by the Pond" are the legacy of the last century. They went to the Mullens Center for the sole purpose of keeping the beer out. Now as to drugs, those are much easier to conceal and get in.
Larry, have you verified that was University-sanctioned "tailgating"?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of students having a place to safely party without destroying property or acting like fools in the middle of the street blocking traffic. Grab up the occasional blacked out drunk minor to keep everyone on their toes...
