Blue Lives Matter

I'm sure it's not unheard of for a roofer, electrician or logger to die their first day on the job.  But that is what is called an accident.

What happened to Ashley Guindon on her first day as a police officer is called murder.

And it has been been happening all too often of late.

RIP officer Guindon, your brothers and sisters have it covered from here

I have been saying this for some time -- and by no means the only one -- that we have gone from one unacceptable extreme to the other in addressing domestic violence, with equally tragic results. There are studies showing that the "must arrest" protocol has led to an increase in violence. Furthermore, one must ask the consequences of taking the discretion away from the officer -- would she be alive today if the perp didn't know she had no choice but to arrest him?

Now, Ed, I know you're in an area where you have no idea what you're talking about.

No Rich, I held a (female) friend's hand through this and saw a lot more than I ever wanted to see...

Not to mention all the fun stuff I saw working for the AHA...

"Studies show..." What studies?"

Do your own research -- as you won't accept the legitimacy of mine, I see no reason to cite it.

Anybody can and does say "studies show" this or "studies show" that. And what- we're just suppose to accept the legitimacy of it?
Studies show that, for instance, people believe they have a right to medical care. They absolutely have no such right. They have a right to purchase medical services.
I got a bit off topic, but studies show that on this blog, getting off topic is a way of life.
