Repeat Party Offender

Luke V. Gatti (center) and father (right) appear before Judge John Payne this morning

Apparently Phillips Street, alcohol, Luke Gatti and late night weekends, make for a bad combination.  Perhaps because he's only 18-years-old, but still no excuse for such outlandish behavior.

Arrested two weeks ago on Phillips Street for disorderly conduct (which included calling a detective the N-word), this time around Mr. Gatti seemed to go out of his way to get arrested yet again on that same notorious street, and when taken back to the police station, assaulted an officer.

With his father looking on, Luke Gatti was arraigned this morning before Judge John Payne who set bail at $250, taken out of the $1,000 bail posted over the weekend to get out of jail.

Noting the arrest only two weeks ago Judge Payne said to Gatti,  "I'm a little concerned you're going to pull a trifecta before the month is over."

Gatti will appear in Eastern Hampshire District Court with his hired lawyer on October 15 for a pre-trial conference.

Unless of course, in the meantime, he gets arrested again.

Larry, any truth to the claim that the officer who was assaulted suffered an injury?

Larry Kelley said...

I believe so.

I'm waiting for my AFD weekend run report to see if he was transported to CDH.

He is LUCKY that this is Amherst PD (kindler gentler law enforcement). If this clown assaulted a big city cop (think Springfield, Worcester Boston…etc) they would have had to arraign him from the hospital… seriously. My buddy took a swing at a cop in Providence once. Haven't seem him since. That was 17 years ago.

What a little punk this kid is! Daddy, mommy, please help me, send lawyers guns and money I need to get back to class.

Larry Kelley said...

Safe bet UMass will bounce him for at least a semester.

Nice Warren Zevon reference!!

Went home with a waitress, the way I always do. How was I to know she was with the Russians too? I was gambling in Havana, I took a little risk. Send lawyers, guns and money. Dad get me outta this! HAH!

Should be the UMass fight song.

Larry,

When is that report on the blow out to be released?

Larry Kelley said...

Any day now. Or the end of the month. Depending on who you believe.

Anonymous said...

His parents are paying for the little monster they created. Hopefully he gets suspended and they can deal with him some more. I hope the town gets the message"hire more public safety!"

The Gazette now confirms that an APD officer was injured while arresting Mr. Gatti:

Larry Kelley said...

Typo in that story: Gatti is 18, not 28.

Anonymous said...

Consider that he may actually be innocent, that means that you're being fed lies by a much more evil group of individuals. Do some real investigation and seek the truth instead of regurgitating what a select group want you to believe.

Larry Kelley said...

Yeah, 9/11 was an inside job, Elvis lives, and Kennedy was killed by the CIA.

Anonymous said...

The The student was on his way home when he foolishly approached the officers for help. It's not quite as elaborate a hoax as any of your examples but maybe the truth will help do more good for Amherst than the current dribble that you've posted. And isn't that the purpose of a blog?

Anonymous said...

At least you've finally dispensed with even the pretense of journalism.

Defendants are acquitted every day, and "innocent until proven guilty" is the bedrock of our justice system.

I'm curious what you think our flag stands for, if anything. Do you just wave and defend it as a symbol of your "tribe", the way a sports fan waves his team's colors?

Anonymous said...

There is a disgusting and well coordinated attack on this individual. This young man is a exceptional student and has never had previous trouble with the law. These are allegations and NOT facts. The real criminality in this case is the coordinated cyber bullying effort that is being fueled by lies.

Larry Kelley said...

You seem to have no trouble responding here.

Tell Mr. Gatti (father or son) I would be happy to publish a statement from him.

Anonymous said...

Cyber-bullying. That's a new one. Been threatened with that before, Larry?

Larry Kelley said...

I think he's saying I'm a cyber bully for publishing, you know, public documents.

Anonymous said...

How did you obtain the picture of him in the courtroom? It is illegal in Mass for you to take pictures in there

Anonymous said...

I'd like to know how a handcuffed individual was able to assault and batter a police officer at the police station?

keithw said...

Anon 1:07

I haven't finished my first cup of coffee and I can think of half a dozen ways to assault someone with hands cuffed in back.

Larry Kelley said...

According to the PD Statement of Facts (which I will publish later this morning) he kicked the officer in the leg.

Anonymous said...

Thank you Larry, as you noted I am not having any difficulty posting to your blog. NOTE: the previous comment used the word 'coordinated' along with 'cyber bullying' as you're not the only website drawing conclusions from allegations.
How fortunate we are to live in a society where innocence prevails until guilt is proven.

I'm wondering to what extent some of the people of Amherst are willing to compromise their humanity under the guise of improving the community.

Larry would you help a friend by deliberately disparaging someone else's reputation on your blog? Or would you condone brutality and believe it justifiable because the practice is supposedly for the greater good?

OK Anon 12:55 am

Cite the chapter and section of the Mass General Laws.

You can't.

Hah, someone here is defending the kid so hard. Seems like the kid is indeed a douchebag all around, as evidenced by this altercation over Mac and Cheese:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovD178AhhSc

Given his behavior on video tape, it's not surprising at all he would have these run-ins with the police as well. But I'm sure these two arrests were just the police conspiring to defame this young man for no reason.

Just curious if you still stand by this ... Apparently he is back at it again this time at uconn. His parents should be sending him off to rehab at this point and not college.

Larry Kelley said...

Of course I stand by it.

I try to rely on "public documents" when I do these types of stories, so they are pretty easy to stand by.

But yes, I'm surprised his Dad did not get him the help he so obviously needs after these two incidents in Amherst.

Yea the kid is a entitled little asshole, and while he is of age, being 20 years old myself, I've seen kids at college carry on in ridiculous ways as well. While it was never to the extent of what happened in the video at UCONN, people do dumb stuff when they're drunk. He's especially stupid for allowing himself to do this at a new school. With all that said though, why bother sitting online and talking shit about the kid?? Like yea he's a spoiled brat, but many people are. Let him live his life and everyone else live your own.

Edser said...

I love the ending to this story, him crying over his shoes.

Anonymous said...

Looks like he finally completed the Tri-fecta with his Mac N Cheese arrest in UCONN. Seriously, this kid doesn't want help. Maybe some jail time would be good for him.

Anonymous said...

https://youtu.be/ovD178AhhSc

This is a video of him, with the Mac'N'Cheese incident. He was 19, drunk, drinking alcohol in an area that specifically had rules against it, and assaulted multiple people in the building.

Just in case people still think this was an elaborate conspiracy by the police to arrest him for whatever bizarre reason people can come up with.

Anonymous said...

It was being asked if the defenders still stood by those claims, not whether you stand by publishing this story.

Anonymous said...

The kid needs help now. Watch the video. Watch the video. Hey dad...LOCK up your weapons now. Hey Mom...Hide your meds. He has issues...help him now.

Sufficient Grace said...

Seriously? You must not be able to process the video. His behavior was abhorrent.

"Exceptional" also can be defined as impaired as in cognitively impaired.

Anonymous said...

Look at the parents when a kid acts like that. I'm sure this is a routine repeated by his father in front of him a hundred times from the time he was a little brat, which he still is. The twerp is still responsible for what he did, but he'd have been better off with better examples

Rod said...

And right there the father makes a mistake by bailing him out. Kid is never going to learn to stand on his own two feet and take responsibility if daddy keeps him out of jail. And trust me..I know it works. My brother had similar problems and my mother kept bailing him out..a total of three times. I finally convinced her that if he got arrested again, he would have deal with it on his own. And sure enough, he was arrested again and my mother refused to bail him out. He sat in the county jail for 42 days. Gave him some time to think, and to realize my mom wasn't going to put up with his behavior anymore. That was over three years ago and he hasn't been in trouble since. I'm sure it doesn't work with every kid...but it's always worth a try.

Anonymous said...

Adam, you say a lot of people are like that's something to be proud of. There's a distinct lack of respect in the youth of today, and it's getting worse. People want to know why mass shootings are increasing, this is a prime example. Spoiled little disrespectful shits with no care or concern for others that blame everyone but themselves for their own mistakes, then lash out at society for not bowing to their will. The parents not disciplining their children are the ones truly to blame, but even that only goes so far. Even spoiled turds like this guy know that what they do isn't right, no matter how crappy their parents were, they just lack the empathy it takes to be a decent human being. If the parents don't teach their children discipline, someone else might, in a way less gentle manner. Personally I don't understand why the charges for this most recent incident weren't assault charges.

maggieb said...

Two things bother me most. First, how quickly this young man used words like "f****t" and "ret**d" when insulting someone - who raises their kid to talk like that? Second, how his parents have clearly enabled a serious alcoholic by hiring attorneys and transferring him to a new university rather than (apparently) sending him to rehab (or if they did, it didn't "take"). We can all be stupid when we're drunk but parents have no excuse to be stupid while their kid is drunk.

Kudos to the manager and staff for professional handling of such a difficult situation. The University should be proud of those employees!

Anonymous said...

"Exceptional"? Okayyy! Kid hates his parents and we will pay the price. Dad knows the truth and will do anything to keep this p o.s kid outta the house.

Anonymous said...

Absolutely - they went above and beyond. That entitled little peckerwood would have lasted 2 minutes in my Catholic high school forget calling the cops - the Irish Christian brothers would have beaten him to a pulp.

Anonymous said...

This young man is a punk. He is fortunate he has "engaged" adult males who are mature and have personal control, otherwise this little turd would have already had his butt kicked numerous times. Daddy better start saving his money because this puke is going to cost him big time!

Larry Kelley said...

Oh I think he already has.

UMass kicked him out only one month into the semester (and they do not give refunds).

His appearances in Eastern Hampshire District Court cost him only $250 in fines but his lawyer probably charged that per hour.

Elaine in Baltimore said...

One of these "Anonymous" posters who is giving Larry Kelley a raft of shit for what he's reporting - has got to be this kid or one of his parents. Who else would defend such obnoxious behavior? Unedited videos do not lie. In his case once he discovers that his sore attempt at bullying the cafe manager is being taped, his behavior becomes even more obnoxious. I imagine he thought he looked and sounded very cool, very in control of the situation. The end of the video bears out an entirely different kid. Alcohol is not your friend and neither are your parents. A sentence of 30 days where he has to watch himself having an alcohol fueled tantrum 24/7 may help

that video was amusing.. admittedly he is a self entitled dumbass who isnt learning his lessons.. but he will eventually pay for this... but the video... THAT was funny.. so many people have done so many worse things while drunk.. including myself when i was younger... but the dramatization of this thing was epic... the big bad manager refusing service... what a douche.. the kid was polite enough at the start,, but the manager giving out lectures.. go get your mop ya knob! and that guy who put him in a full nelson wow that guy just hit back at his shitty life... acting like he's some sort of hero... you're not gonna hit him... jeez dude chillax it was tiny push from an off balance drunk teenager that was pretty much leaving... overreact much?
hilarious video.. comedy gold.

Oh, my God I want some bacon jalapeno mac & cheese. Imagine this: bake (350 degrees about 30-40 min depending on thickness) your bacon on a cookie sheet (could put it on a rack on the sheet or just pat the oil off the bacon when it's finished) as well as baking STUFFED jalapeno peppers (stuffed with cream cheese). In the meantime, boil your elbow macaroni while you create your Bechamel sauce. It's EASY! Put some butter in a saucepan until it bubbles, remove from heat and put an equal amount of flour (maybe 2 tablespoons each). Once flour is mixed into the butter (now a roux), replace on the heat stirring constantly (use a whisk). Have warmed milk (could do this in the microwave) maybe a couple of cups and slowly pour this into the roux (flour/butter) still stirring constantly. The mixture will thicken. Throw a cup or two of shredded cheddar cheese into the roux and stir thoroughly. Mix macaroni and cheese sauce, crumble the drained/patted bacon into the macaroni. Chop up the baked stuffed jalapeno peppers and fold them into the bacon macaroni and then bake the whole dish until it's golden brown on top.

Oh, and this kid is and will always be a douche, apparently. Or allegedly.

Lil Luke Gatti has been arrested a FOURTH time, this time down in FL, where he assaulted a police officer attempting to take him into protective custody. The CT judge allowed Gatti to go to an accelerated rehab program, saying it was "unlikely" Gatti would offend again, due to the embarrassment Gatti suffered after his video went viral. All Gatti had to do was keep his nose clean and finish the rehab program and the CT arrest would disappear from his record. But, this is Luke Gatti, after all. Will his ma and pa hit the comments sections on the internet again, accusing those who report on their son's criminal behavior of being depraved liars? Somehow, I don't believe they will.
