And now, the end is near...

7:40 PM
So the wait in line for free ice cream at Ben and Jerry’s was way longer than my wait to vote just now. Can you imagine if Amherst Brewing Company across the street was giving away a free pint to everyone who voted?

Hey maybe that is how we can increase turnout for the local town election this spring, when the winner of today’s Select Board contest has to run again. And rather than the 85% turnout we get for the Presidential election the usual 15% trudge to the polls to vote for the local hands-on government that has WAY more impact on everyday life here in the People’s Republic of Amherst.

But still, I savor this election turnout: God bless America!

Well Larry, how's that McCain prediction feeling right now? At least you were right about Hayden.

I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Either of them.

America wins tonight because we voted in record numbers.

America wins tonight, if President-elect Barack Obama is able to govern the way he said in his winner's speech.

America wins tonight because now it's true, any young boy or girl can grow up become president of the United States.

All very true--especially number three.

My staunch Irish-Catholic mother thought that about Kennedy.

McCain prediction?

For the last few days, I've been listening and watching the likes of Limbaugh, Beck, Rove, O'Reilly and Hannity.(fair and balanced reporting, please). This unbelievably stubborn cast of characters has gone against every poll in the nation. They all felt in the end when a voter stood alone in the booth, there was no way he/she would vote for Senator Obama. And these people are proud to call themselves journalists.

Don't get me wrong, just because I watch doesn't mean I agree with these dudes.I watch for the entertainment value. Like watching American Idol, or better yet The Three Stooges. We like to see people fall on their faces. That's why The O'Reilly Factor's ratings are so high. It's fun to watch someone gently cram one foot in his mouth while trying to kick someone else hard in the ass with the other. It's sort of like certain person's blog, don't you think?

But as long as Bill's cable news show ranks #1, I'm sure he doesn't care...he's laughing all the way to the bank. Although now, he'll have to withdraw more out to give to the Uncle Sam. Spread that wealth around there, Billy Boy.

And now that the election is over and America has spoken her peace, don't assume for a minute that the above media right wingers will be silent. No sir, this is where the fun starts. Rush, Bill, Karl and Sean can't wait to prove the wimpy, liberal, dumbass MAJORITY of this country wrong. These guys will be drooling every night for any reason to say "I told you so". Maybe Russian tanks could roll into the Ukraine, gas hit $5 bucks a gallon or any terrorist situation that our young, inexperianced, new president might not be able to handle.

Let's not forget the whirlwind excuses and explanations that are coming are way to why McCain didn't win.The economy, Acorn,Palin,Joe The Plumber, too hard, too soft, whatever.

Why not accept the fact most people in America were just plain tired of getting screwed and it had to stop.

So for those hardcore conservative tv journalists , stomp your feet, say a few curse words and try not to be so fixed on your opinion. The right sometimes can be wrong.

Stupid is as stubborn does.

And remember, hope is just around the corner.

Palin in 2012.

Actually, when I kick someone hard, I target the head.

Hey how do you like the fact that Obama's buddy Wiliam Ayers dedicated a book he wrote in 1974 to Sirhan Sirhan?

Let's remember:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmc2EzkRDkI

From that book "Prairie Fire":

"Our intention is to disrupt the empire, to incapacitate it, to put pressure on the cracks, to make it hard to carry out its bloody functioning against the people of the world, to join the world struggle, to attack from the inside."

Baroke Insane O'rama?

It's gonna get REAL CRAZY around here.

I remember it like it was yesterday; just as less than three weeks from now I will remember that awful day as well.

Actually, according to the Neilson ratings, The O'Reilly Factor has been losing to Keith Olbermann.
