Life is hard your Lordship

"Chilling effect." You mean like the DA finding you in violation of Open Meeting Law twice in the last three years? Or an Ethics Complaint where two of your five members have a conflict of interest? Rules can be tough. It's way more fun when you don't have to follow them. Can't stand the heat? Then vacate the kitchen!

  1. Man, that was hilarious. By the way, that bass line was origionally from the song "under pressure", which might also apply.

  2. Yeah, 'Under Pressure' was my second choice. But I just couldn't resist a white guy doing (stolen) rap.

  3. Larry, who is that government official who is calling you out on the record as a problem interfering in town government?

"Chilling" is an interesting choice of words. "Obstacle" or "obstructionist" or "pain in the ass" might make sense coming from him but "chilling" implies you are interfering in a way that encroaches on HIS rights and diminishes the efficacy of government. Does he have any evidence to support this serious charge? No? He is defaming you and it is broadcast to everyone in Amherst with cable television and replayed over and over.

  4. That would be his Lordship Gerry Weiss, rookie Chair of the Amherst Select board.

Fortunately that little temper tantrum occurred almost 3 hours into the meeting so if anybody at home was watching they were probably asleep by then.

I was so glad Hwei-Ling Greeney (the other Select person) gave him a time out.

  5. You're so right! I end up switching back and forth to stay awake and missed that part!

Are other committee meetings on the web? I would like to see the 9/25 school meeting again. Wasn't sure if I really heard some things correctly.

  6. No, Mary at the moment nobody streams any meetings on the web. I run down to ACTV and digitize the parts I need and upload to my blog. But, yeah, ACTV should try to simultaneously beam to TV and the web.

Funny thing is more people have probably now viewed Mr. Weiss’s diatribe on my blog than did that night.
