Banned In Pelham
Over a dozen supporters of Aisha Hiza, a mother who has been banned from school grounds for advocating in behalf of her child, read a statement of support at the Regional School Committee on Tuesday night during Public Comment.
Committee Chair Trevor Baptiste tried not to let the discussion go very far because as he rightfully pointed out it's not a Regional School Committee issue (Middle or High School), but in fact a Pelham School Committee issue since the child attends Pelham Elementary School which is currently not part of the Region.
By the sounds of Attorney Tate's letter to Ms. Hiza the Pelham School Committee, which only meets once per month, will take up discussion of her complaint against Superintendent Maria Geryk at their May 4th meeting.
And since it's an Executive Session it will be hard to tell if Pelham School Committee Chair Tara Luce recuses herself, since she is employed at Amherst Crocker Farm Elementary School thus, technically, Maria Geryk is her boss.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 206 of 206Well she waited 14-months before becoming completly frustrated and moving past the school to chestnut street. If it was your child how long would before you realized the only way you would,be heard wpuld be to get mad suggest legal action. Again I repeat of the mom has been as bad as everyone is assuming then Maria shpuld have had her arrested filed acresl restraining order and followed the constituion and given her Due process as required by our constitution. It is against the law to deny a patent access to her child as well.
Not quite.. Im basing it on the documents posted and additional emails not yet shared that I have seen. BULLYING COMPLAINT WAS FILED last
year early on. When was Faye Brady actually brought in to help dolve it ? How long did we sleep.. On the situation.. ? After numerous complaints from numerous families in numerous classrooms? Multiple meetings cancelled with this parent well before she began stomping her feet Nd asking Maria for help. No one is right for sure.. They all made mistakes.. But the bottom line it is ok for parents to be vocal regarding their childrens education. While Aisha had to be very squeaky wheel to be heard... It needed to be done because numerous other families in district tried and gave up.. and just pulled their children by the looks of the responses here. Im glad she didnt give up. Im glad shes fighting for her rights. Maybe. It will make things, better maybe even get a policy in plaCe,in case this haPpens again. One thaT is officially filed with DESE as it should be.
TEAM MARIA how deep can you dig the hole... This is not something that's going to go away and you're stubbornness to act in the best interest of this child and mom is just going to look WORSE as time goes on.
First of all Eddie, its simply a 51a. Not a CYA 51a. And tou cant file one regaedless of yohr delusional ramblings. You have to be actually working in the few professions that can file a 51a
The reason this insane 'stay-away' order has not been heard in a court of law is because it would be thrown out! Even better, it would be considered one of the most blatant cases of racial discrimination ever recorded in the Amherst Schools history. Period. End of story. For anybody else to think anything different--well--you must be Trump followers.
Okay--day 73--for god's sake--those held in jail for this freaken' long at least get a phone call! At least they know when they eligible for release! There is no end date to this terrorism. There is no hearing scheduled so that BOTH sides can be heard. And the whole dang while a little girl is suffering, wondering why her Mommy cannot go into her school--Wait a minute! If Mommy cannot go into this building--why can I--if Mommy is not permitted in this building--then why am I here? "I want my Mommy!" --Children throw these tantrums all the time--shit--I have seen grown adults demand their Mother's immediate attention to matters at hand--but the school has so been 'ordered' to deny this child this request every day, every hour, she is being held in Pelham Elementary School. Shame on you--shame on anybody having anything to do with this absurdity! And I hope each and everyone are held accountable--knowing the pain and suffering you continue to cause a family of African Heritage in this great sleepy valley.
