Hess Station in South Amherst was closed for almost four hours for "unattended death" investigation very early Saturday morning
If you are suspecting heroin overdose, it has not been ruled out (and numerous unnamed sources say it was).
UPDATE: Monday afternoon
The District Attorney has released the name of the deceased: Christopher Linehan, age 36, of Amherst.

heroin...those dam townies.
Takes 6 months for the Medical Examiner to file a death certificate with the Amherst Town Clerk, but these days the DA is getting a lot better about releasing cause of death well before that.
heroin or opiates….seconded. Nothing to see here. These things do not exist in utopian Amherst. Must be a traveller from Holyoke or Springfield or Chicopee. Move along..these are not the droids you are searching for
Hopefully it was one of the police protesters I see in Northampton, while they pass out socialist newspapers. Talk about scum of the earth.
May he, who is equal to all other human beings, including those ignorant people that pass out socialist newspapers, rest in peace.
Amen. Helluva place to die. On the other hand, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go...
The final deuce. Well played.
Some great jokes on here. Make sure to check back in after each local death to crack a few.
Did you hear the one about the second grader, it's a hoot.....
....and then there's the one about your nephew.....and your dad...
What's not being said here is that the Amherst Hess is one of the few where you can actually access the restroom at 3AM. Most of them leave all the lights on but lock the door and only sell gasoline (through a slot in the wall) after 11 PM.
Woe to the woman who thinks that she might find refuge in those other (locked) Hess stores...
What hopefully won't be said is that Amerst's Hess has gone the same route because of this...
11:18 must be a million laughs to live with. Please, sir or madam, get some help for your humorlessness. See your doctor. (Kevorkian, I hope.)
Last summer, after the Hess Station was robbed, the doors were locked at midnight and stayed locked until 5 a.m. for the safety of the cashier. Transactions for gas were done through a slot in the wall. That lasted only a few months before the doors were kept open all night for other purchases as well.
Don't want to die early? In the bathroom of a Hess station? Don't use heroin.
Christopher was one of the sweetest most loving people I know, he struggled immensely with drug use but worked hard every day try and beat it. Rest in paradise Christopher
I have heard from a good number of people that he was a "great guy."
Very sad.
That and $2.95 gets you a cup of coffee.
Had the privilege of working with Chris a few years back. Obviously he was on his own long road of addiction and recovery, but he always seemed like the happiest guy in the room and brought the spirits of everyone else around him up, even if he had his own battles going on. RIP Chris.
Don't do drugs, young'ns.
There wasn't a better photo of the guy available?
7:47, define "better"
He liked it, his friends like it
