Look, up in the sky!
Amherst Town Meeting will tackle the high flying issue of a drone ban for all town departments via a citizen petition filed yesterday before the noon deadline.
Amherst Police Department seems to be the focus of their attention, as if APD is in the habit of taking down perps without due process.
I wonder what's next, banning the use of binoculars? Or how about the Massachusetts State Police helicopter?
Chief Livingstone confirmed that APD has "no immediate plans" to use drones and then adds jokingly, "I can't afford them."
Oh Ponziville,
ReplyDeletewe've already seen you
naked.
(lovely jowls, BTW...)
I doubt the police department has time enough fly drones since they're sooo busy writing tickets.
ReplyDeleteActually we have "Parking Enforcement" for that.
ReplyDeleteYou need to get your photos strait. There is a difference between a drone and a rc helicopter although everyone seems to call anything that flies these days drones, including some RC companies as they know it makes their toys more sellable.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and I have to stop publishing pictures of scantily clad women.
ReplyDeleteNO, NO!! For years I have enjoyed coming to this site to see your postings of scantily clad women. That's probably the only reason anyone really comes here anyway.
ReplyDeleteCheck out town warrant posted today
ReplyDeleteYou're going to take instruction from a grammatically incorrect, poorly punctuated comment in which the word "straight" is misspelled?
ReplyDeleteI would also hope that our law enforcement agencies would be banned from using nuclear weapons, too.
ReplyDeleteThis warrant article appears to be a solution looking for a problem.
Anyone have any further clarification as to why they find drones unconstitutional? Even after reading the petition I don't completely understand why they find them so offensive. I find drones to be safer than having police shoot tear gas themselves.
ReplyDeleteIdk, I guess I just don't agree with their points. I saw an article on masslive about a group being arrested (I think) for protesting drones. Without further reading I'll assume it's the same group (as they wee from Noho). I thought they were wrong then and I think they are wrong now. In fact, I find it offensive as I have a brother overseas at this very moment and if his life could be saved by using drones, I find those that protest them should be put in jail.
Won't be long before only African-Americans can use the word drone.
ReplyDeleteAmherstians will not be able to get the same day delivery by drone that Amazon customers have been looking forward to if this passes :(
ReplyDeleteLivingstone wasn't kidding: he CAN'T afford drones.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't the ban include hot air balloons? Who knows what they are seeing on those balmy summer mornings?
We don't need drones. We have Ed, the sage of Amherst who knows all and sees all.
ReplyDelete"We don't need drones. We have Ed, the sage of Amherst who knows all and sees all."

Another article to waste an hour of time at town meeting, feeling good about doing nothing for the liberal fringe of Amherst. What a joke.
