Fort River School historic East Amherst Village
Amherst Fort River Elementary School went into "lock down" this morning at 10:15 a.m. "to address a concern," but for only five minutes.
According to Principal Diane Chamberlain they had an "internal issue that needed uninterrupted attention and this was our best way to address the issue."
Parents were "informed" in an email sent out well after school closed for the day, as once again school officials are being vague about a troubling incident.
Reminds me of wagging the dog. You have a serious problem with an administration so you focus on the potential that children could be in jeopardy and suddenly parents forget about what's going on.
ReplyDeleteI was at the school during the lock down and I didn't even know it was happening.
ReplyDeleteOnce again. Keeping us in the dark. Let the speculation begin. You reap what you sow
ReplyDeleteKind of like the mini lockdown at the high school a while back because a kid was flipping out and needed to be subdued?
ReplyDeleteAs a Fort River parent. I feel they should give us the details of what happened. Being vague makes me think it was a stupid reason for a lockdown and they are afraid of the blowback.
ReplyDeleteWow......paranoia strikes deep here.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if someone lost a purse or something and they wanted to find it. Or if there was a bat or mouse in the building.
ReplyDeleteYou know folks, you really ought to tell people because the speculation will inevitably be worse...
I grilled a 6th grader and she seems to think they temporarily lost a special needs student.
ReplyDelete"they temporarily lost a special needs student."
ReplyDeleteI was thinking it was either a missing student or missing gun, possibly a police officer's weapon (that does happen) -- although I wonder if all the proper reports to (I presume) both DCF & DECE were filed regarding this incident.
Was there any accountability for this? If they can tell the world that "Justin" won't be in ARHS until the investigation is concluded then they ought to be able to say something on this.
As an aside -- the incident I am thinking of (not in Amherst) involved an officer leaving her (loaded) handgun in a restroom (and leaving the restroom/area) and a civilian finding it and doing exactly what I would have -- taking possession of it so that a child didn't. She then somehow brought it to the attention of the authorities that she had found *a* gun and wanted them to take possession of it.
They did so, and then arrested her for possession of the gun without proper licensing and such. You'd kinda think they'd realize that it was their weapon, at least when they ran the serial number and it came back as having been sold to *them*.
And you really don't want a small child playing with a handgun, do you????
Lost student, lost gun, is this the best speculation that the residents of Amherst can muster. come on, lets really blow it out of proportion. Remember the UFO's many months ago, maybe there is a tie in there????
ReplyDeleteThDon't you think when it's your kid you just want to know what happened? How can anyone criticize people for wanting to know?
