226 Children died in drunk driving accidents in 2011
The New Year started out badly for Brenda L Sanchez, age 30, and Sylwester Malejczyk, age 22, both arrested for Driving Under the Influence on January 1st (early morning hours of course).
Particularly bad for Ms. Sanchez, since the charges also include child endangerment while under the influence.
Justin Timmons, age 23, attracted attention by speeding, 50 in a 35 MPH zone, also in the wee hours of the morning when traffic is light -- probably made even lighter by the "polar vortex."
Welcome 2014: Three DUIs down, another 125 or so to go.
I think it would be interesting to inquire as to what license restriction Ms. Sanchez was operating in violation of.
ReplyDelete"Corrective lenses" (i.e. "glasses") so she can see where the h*ll she is going? Hours of operation because she, for some reason or another, isn't allowed to drive at night? (Possibly she has a "Cinderella License" due to a prior OUI which she somehow managed not to have become a conviction?
Also isn't the WMECO substation actually in Sunderland, across both a town & county line? Maybe not, and maybe the APD had the right to arrest her on the other side of the line -- there are situations where it might.
Notwithstanding that, and assuming this isn't sloppy record-keeping on the part of the APD, WHAT THE HELL WAS SHE DOING IN THE SUBSTATION?!?!?!?!?
That's where they bring it down to 13,600 volts (8,700 to ground) -- from lines much higher.
I at least hope that WMECO is bright enough to have it clearly & well posted "No Trespassing" as even before the Homeland Security & Metal Theft concerns, it's not exactly a place they'd want people wandering around.
The woman's not only intoxicated, not only with a child in the car, not only in violation of a license restriction, but IN THE SUBSTATION???
Larry, you might want to follow up on this one...
She was pulled over in the vicinity of the substation. Police will use the closest land marker for an arrest when no numerical building is near. The town line is actually closer to the house just after where Annie's was, which is plenty north of the WMECO station. The station is in North Amherst.
