Taste So Good

Jada loved the Chinese food
Tonight's crowd at the 22nd Annual Taste of Amherst seemed to make up for last night's wash out as pretty much the entire town common was almost shoulder to shoulder with pedstrians, most of them eating.

Atkins Country Market, all the way from deep South Amherst

The only thing that seemed equally popular was the area in front of the stage set aside for hula hooping.

The feast runs through Sunday 4:00 p.m. and the weather is projected to be as cooperative as it was this evening.

  1. Too bad it's a flop according to Walter.

  2. Always looks like a good idea, family oriented, promotes restaurant business, and I don't know what the percentage is but I know it is a HUGE part of the local economy. What has Amherst does for business otherwise?, that's a completely different picture.

  3. Don't know where I said it was a flop. What I said is it could be done better so that it actually does more for the town. As it is now it limits exposure and effectiveness to drive business in the town. Nice event that lacks some key ingredients to make it a more effective town function.

  4. Walter, this event was originally on the streets in front of the restaurants. It was moved to the town common by...Judie.

But then it would be much less of a community get-together. I witnessed throngs of families sitting together listening to music, sitting and eating together and catching up since the last time they met, as well as out-of-towners getting a taste of our social culture.

Spreading it out around town would have excluded a lot of vendors based on location and would have spread us out socially. It's not all about increasing commerce.
