Jones Library Eval Comm: Terminator unleashed

So this subcommittee simply refuses to die!

Although the venerable Amherst Bulletin did stop the presses to extend the deadline for the subcommittee's long-winded OpEd column response to Trustee Chris Hoffmann's initial SOS that sparked a spotlight on their nefarious activities attempting to fire/retire the current Library Director who is about the celebrate 30 years of service.

And just to demonstrate how dedicated these drones are to their pernicious program, the subcommittee has met 44 times between January 4 and July 16 for a grand total of 112 hours. This does not include July 29th, August 4, August 7 and this morning's August 11 meeting, or the next one they have scheduled for this coming Saturday morning.

The August 4 meeting was supposed to be their final one.

The Subcommittee's whinny letter/column to the Amherst Bulletin

  2. This is the biggest bombshell in Trustee Chris Hoffmann's critique of the Evaluation Committee:

"Trustee Gray told me that once the Director read everything they were planning to put into their report ... that, given her age, the Director would prefer to retire quietly rather than take on the members of the Committee..."

So the subcommittee planned a hatchet job, not a fair evaluation. And they scheme and hide their plans behind "executive sessions" and "official duties" and "confidentiality." Just wait until their op-ed comes out, then see what kind of weasel-words they use to deny (somewhat) what Chris reports. Carol Gray and Sarah McKee, I hope you're reading this!

  3. The trustees are entitled to see the full review and of course she is free to do with it what she will.

If I were her, I'd consider suing the Jones Library for constructive termination and age discrimination. Discovery would be a bitch for the evaluation subcommittee.

And of course, who would take the job if its clear you have to worry about your own board of trustees having your back?

    Lawyers affix blame.

Leaders give their charges resources and encouragement to get the job done.

  4. I don't think Bonnie would want to sue the Library and have the entire organization suffer for the mistakes of some temporary trustees (they are all temporary).

About a replacement, Carol et al could probably find some kiss-ass toady. In fact, that might be the only kind that would apply at this point. But I don't think that will happen now that the light is shining on this situation.

  7. this is inevitable in 2010 in a town where the government is basically "run" by volunteers, even if they are elected. These people have all the time in the world to dedicate to their imagined quests.

  8. This is more fun than the School Committee!

  10. Is it possible that these shenanigans will foce Amherst to lose a well respected and highly skilled Library Director? The antics of our elected officials - whether it be for the library or the schools - seem determined to undermine our quality of life.

You've complained for years that Palestine is something occupied?!

    Amherst is the thing occupied.

Taken over by a wounded, ego-maniacal, half-sane, half-wild class of thieving deceptive parasitic hypocritical back stabbing "intellectuals" and their townie capos... whose ripping themselves and their mirage utopia apart from the inside out is openly displayed, for all the world to see.

Shameful little place, holding itself high above all of America.

Your smell is like an open sewer, little village.

A rotting, from deep deeeeep within...

  12. Glad you're not writing press releases for the Amherst Chamber of Commerce.

  13. To anonymous two comments above--You can't see any good in Amherst? That's just as blind as the supposed progressives who can't see anything good in the U.S. As for me, I love both Amherst and the U.S., and I feel blessed to live here, flaws and all.

  14. Yeah in spite of the name on the masthead I could not agree with you more--although I would be a tad more impressed if you left your name.

  15. First you ask:

"To anonymous two comments above--You can't see any good in Amherst?"

And then, amazingly, you decide to answer the question for them, ~yourself~.

    (???)

"That's just as blind as the supposed progressives who can't see anything good in the U.S."

What's just as blind? Your own fantasy conversation, where you received an answer from someone who never had the chance to respond?

    LOL.

"Let's hope Mr Hajir has learned a valuable lesson: never play poker for money until you know the rules of the game."

You feel like a winner, Larry?

  17. Sure do. And it's like Cheers Bar, where everybody knows my name. Unlike you.

  18. Oh, I think they know my name.

    I certainly know theirs.

  19. Yeah that's good.

Everybody just feel free to fight out your own little personal wars on my bandwidth.

  20. The library trustees and school committee remind me of rodents gone haywire, who, instead of nurturing their young--devour them.
