Shedding Light (but not a lot)

So I'm far from an art aficionado, but less far from a Yankee farmer with some degree of common sense. The art project "Shedding Light"--sponsored by the Amherst Public Arts Commission--strikes me as pretty dim.

It simply looks like Bob The Builder is inside preparing to go to work.

  2. Let me see if I am getting this straight: The town is going to have to lay off heaven only knows how many teachers and we have money for THIS??????

I don't care if it is a different budget line item, it still is OUR money...

  3. Yes. Town funds were used to support this and many other 250th events. If you do not participate this is what happens.

  4. Erika Zekos needs to find new work. I have a "Shedding Light" ceremony every night when I come home and turn my lights on. Light pours from eco-friendly CFL bulbs out into my 7 acre yard.

    Cost... Nothing.

This town gets less enjoyable to live in by the day.

  5. Eighty slots in YOUR town government open up every single year.

Town Meeting nomination papers available just after New Years Day. You sign your name and you're on the ballot. The races are hardly competitive.

There are no excuses for being simply an "anonymous" complainer. (Unless, of course, you somehow enjoy it.)

  6. Before you all get out your tar and feathers you might want to know more about the project and see some beautiful pictures. I think it is a wonderful idea and quite beautiful.

AND IF YOU DO PARTICIPATE, YOU RUN THE RISK OF ABANDONMENT BY THE TOWN AND NO PAY FOR OVE 100 HOURS OF WORK THE TOWN SOLICITED.

THEN THE TOWN MANAGER WILL STICK THE KNIFE IN DEEP AND TWIST.

  8. Maybe the Shed will burn down and we can spend more taxpayer money to put the fire out.
