Rot in Hell!

This laconic loser purposely places a BOMB on board a civilian aircraft designed to detonate at high altitude where the resulting concussion, freezing temperatures, gale force winds and free falling 30,000 feet at terminal velocity guarantee a horrific death for all 259 human beings on board not to mention 11 on the ground; and now the quaint country of Scotland is considering releasing him on humanitarian grounds because he has cancer????

May he die as painful and horrific a death as he inflicted on 270 innocent civilians. Alone, in a dark cell--with the Devil as his only friend!

The Europeans certainly do have a different attitude about crime and punishment.

I understand that there are members of victims' families that are advocating for his release.

One can appreciate the power of forgiveness in this world, but one can also believe at the same time in the efficacy of severe punishments as deterrents to future violence.

There has not been enough discussion about the potential damage to any community, when its members see wrongdoers escaping or talking their way out of the generally understood punishments for specific crimes. I suspect that there's some kind of a long-term damage to the health of a society when that happens.

I don't think it makes much sense to parole or accommodate the mass-murderer and terrorist who put the bomb on Pan Am flight 103 "Clipper Maid of the Seas" and killed all 259 human beings on the flight and 11 persons on the ground in Lockerbie, and destroyed the $24 million dollar airplane.

He's dying of cancer? OK take care of him. Let his family visit. Compassion doesn't have to be a get out of jail card. And why should it be?

Yes Ryan the compassionate thing to do would be to drop him out of a plane at 30k feet without a parachute then he wouldn't have to suffer with his cancer.
