So Kira placed in every event she entered yesterday at Muddy Brook Farm horse show including a Blue Ribbon for costume division. Not bad for her first time out.

AMHERST - While the nation's economic decline caused Amherst College to delay the start of work at the Lord Jeffery Inn, an unexpected bounty from a movie filmed at the college has prompted it to donate that money to the town.
Earlier this fall, the crew filming "The Edge of Darkness," starring Mel Gibson, filmed scenes in Northampton and at a former Strategic Air Command bunker on the Holyoke Range now owned by the college. The bunker has been converted into an archive for the Five Colleges.
That compensation was $40,000, and Town Manager Laurence R. Shaffer said the college contacted the town about a month ago to let officials know they wanted to donate it to the town. "They just felt it was found revenue (and) it was appropriate" to give it to the town, Shaffer said.
Great! And it's not like Amherst didn't contribute to the success of the production since I saw Amherst police officers there on the Notch every day directing traffic! It would be nice to see more collaboration like this...
The Gazette actually had the story (Amherst College's gift not my daughter's blue ribbon)a day or two before the Republican, although it was buried compared to the article about AC buying that downtown building for $2.3 million thus taking away $16,000 in annual taxes from Amherst.
But then, if Barry Roberts had bought it at that price it would now generate almost exactly $40,000. Hmmm...

You should be happy. Tax relief for the rich, what could be more Republican?
