I have found Amherst's assessments to be often significantly below the market price for a house. So, while the rate is much, much higher in Amherst, the taxes are often roughly the same as in Northampton for similar homes.<br /><br />Joelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13141742420717242724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5035949355013113578.post-64427058143673573552013-04-05T12:37:02.648-04:002013-04-05T12:37:02.648-04:00Actually I do that on purpose, figuring if that...Actually I do that on purpose, figuring if that's the best you can find ...Larry Kelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02614645831526190536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5035949355013113578.post-85805964442199565432013-04-05T12:13:51.042-04:002013-04-05T12:13:51.042-04:00if only you had grammar-check on your blog..."...if only you had grammar-check on your blog..."Spray parks are cheap to operated"<br /><br />cheap to operated?<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5035949355013113578.post-92222851071875450762013-04-05T10:33:21.710-04:002013-04-05T10:33:21.710-04:00It is now (FY2013).

But that's not usually done. Vermont has a system that steps in that direction (different property taxes within a town), but I don't know the details. If we had more HOUSING AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT in this town, I think we would be better off. Hadley has a lower tax, and lower property values, so they're not paying as much as I am every quarter. And to my knowledge anyway, their schools are pretty good. I thought the tax rate in Amherst was actually $20.39 per thousand?Tom McBridenoreply@blogger.com
